The cost of lab tests really vary based on the type of test needed. Some tests could cost as little as $5-20 while others cost more than $200. It is best to contact the lab directly to determine your specific cost.

Currently, the only testing method approved for federally-mandated testing is a Urine sample.  It detects recent drug use and is relied as cost-effectiveness.  Urine drug testing has the capacity to screen for a variety of different illicit drugs and ability to withstand most legal challenges.  Saliva testing is in the process of approval for DOT standards and will be available sometime in late 2024.

Urine testing is suitable for all testing reasons –  pre-employment, random,  post-accident, return to duty, follow ups, reasonable suspicion – and can be performed for a wide range of illicit and prescription drugs. 

Depending on the panel for testing, DOT results are available with in 2-3 business days. A federal test can take up to 30 days for due process, includes confirmation of samples by LC-GC/MS  and interviews by MRO ( Medical Review Officer).

If you are the only owner & operator, you are REQUIRED to contract with a random drug testing consortium. A consortium manages all, or part, of your DOT drug and alcohol testing program.

For DNA testing purposes, we typically collect samples using a cheek swab. This method is both non-invasive and effective, allowing us to gather the necessary DNA without the need for blood collection. The swab is used to gently collect cells from the inside of your cheek, which provides a sufficient sample for testing.
